The Pastor’s Pen

Timothy Howard Jr.

November is all about gratitude. As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us look forward to sharing a meal, catching up with family and friends, and enjoying familiar traditions. It is also a good time to pause and consider the people and blessings we might otherwise take for granted.

Thankfulness does not mean that life is always easy. Every family and community faces its share of burdens. But even in difficult seasons, we have reasons to give thanks — neighbors who care, friends who listen, and the kindness people show one another. As Christians, we are especially thankful for God’s grace and for the hope we have through Jesus Christ.

We would also be very thankful to share a meal with you this month. Eastford Baptist Church will hold a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, Nov. 22, after the worship service. Everyone is welcome — whether you attend our church, live nearby, or would simply enjoy sharing a meal and meeting others in the community. We hope you will join us.

Thanksgiving reminds us that gratitude grows when it is shared. A conversation around the table, an invitation to someone who might otherwise be alone, or a simple expression of appreciation can mean a great deal. We hope our dinner will be a warm opportunity to enjoy one another’s company and give thanks together.

Our regular Sunday schedule continues throughout November. Bible studies for all ages begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30 a.m., with prayer, singing, and verse-by-verse preaching from the Bible. On Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., our midweek ministries include Bible study for adults, Olympians for children in grades 1-6, and Teen Club for teens in grades 7-12.

Whether you are looking for a church home, have questions about Christianity, or simply want to meet your neighbors, you are welcome at Eastford Baptist Church.
