Legislative Update

Jeff Gordon

I continue to focus on affordability issues in a common-sense way. My free e-newsletters and social media posts have shared a lot of information about the work I have done over the past four years (more than 35 specific items). There is more to do, which is why I remain working on this important issue.

I have been rolling out my Affordability Plan full of proposals. Although not all of them may pass, my proposal includes a wide array of items we can work on to make Connecticut more affordable for you and your family. By extension, by continuing the work done to increase public and special education funding, town aid road money, and casino fund money, this would mean more money to our towns, including Eastford, that can offset the pressure on property taxes.

Some people have talked about increasing taxes, but the state can better support our towns without raising taxes or cutting other important services if it refocuses and repurposes the tax money it already has toward core government responsibilities, like public education, instead of spending it on things it does not need.

As always, please reach out if I can help with a constituent matter, answer a question, or address a concern. You can call my office at (860) 240-8816, e-mail me at [email protected], check for news and sign up for my free e-newsletter at www.senatorgordon.com, or learn about what I am doing on Facebook at “Senator Jeff Gordon.”
