Local author visits library to discuss ‘Back from Suicide’
EASTFORD — On Wednesday, Sept. 16, the Eastford Public Library hosted Lisette Rimer, of Pomfret, the author of “Back from Suicide: Before and After the Essential Patrick.” Joining her was Patrick’s twin sister, Libby Antoinette Wood. Patrons and guests entered to the strains of Patrick’s classical piano music playing quietly in the background. The book chronicles the life and tragic death of Patrick Wood, a valedictorian, AP Scholar, and National Merit Scholarship winner with perfect SAT scores who graduated from Stanford. Despite being talented and successful, Wood struggled with depression and tragically died by suicide in 2006. Rimer wrote the book to educate readers about the biology behind depression and the lessons she has learned since.
