Did you know that in the horse-and-buggy days, when many mail trains were running, it was possible to send a letter to Hartford and get a reply the same day? The letter would leave Eastford at 4 a.m. via Putnam, and the reply would come via North Windham and be delivered to Eastford at 7 p.m. the same day. Oh, for the good old days!
