What's New with Scout Troop 92?
ASHFORD/EASTFORD — Troop 92 plans for this spring include climbing Bear Mountain April 25. Bear Mountain is the highest mountain in Connecticut and is part of the Appalachian Trail. This climb will be a day trip. Preparations are underway for an end-of-the-season, white-water-rafting trip and campout May 30-31. Prerequisite for White Water Rafting is the Kayaking merit badge.
Summer Camp schedule will be Week 6, which is Aug. 2-7.
Support Scouting: Troop 92 will hold a Mother’s Day Flower Sale Saturday, May 9. Sale will take place at the old Warrenville Post Office across from the Ashford Town Hall.
The Cub Scouts’ Munson’s Chocolate fundraiser was a big success in raising funds to offset the cost of Scouting adventures and overnights. Thank you to all who supported! The Cub Scouts also held their annual Pinewood Derby contest. To add to the excitement, the Cubs invited Ashford’s (3rd Grade) Brownie Troop 61056 to participate. Turnout for this event was large. There was a lot of excitement in the air for this combined participation. Troop 92’s fastest car was built by Logan. The Brownie’s fastest car was built by Evelyn. Will we see more combined activities in the future? Wait and see!
Cub Scout meetings are held the First Friday of the month at 6 p.m. in Knowlton Hall. New Cubs are always welcome!
Watch out for April Fool’s Tricks April 1!
Scout Troop 92 meetings are the second and fourth Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at St Philip’s Rec Center. New members are welcome. Scouts are fifth grade students through age 18.
