Heart of Eastford 5k Raises More than $4k for Food Pantry, Families in Need

EASTFORD — Experience Eastford kicked off at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6, with the annual Heart of Eastford 5K, hosted by the Recreation Commission. In total, 81 racers took to the streets to run the course, which began and ended at Eastford Elementary School. The event raised $4,176, which will be split between the Eastford Food Pantry and a beneficiary yet to be determined. Two Eastford residents competed in the 5K. Luke McGurl finished second in his age group (Male 40-49) with a time of 22:33. The time was also good to earn him an overall third-place finish. Allison Sparks finished first in her age group (Female 30-39) with a time of 31:36. This time earned her 34th place overall. For complete results from the race, see below, or visit this webpage.
