'Experience Eastford' Continues Long-Standing Tradition of Family Fun
EASTFORD — On Saturday, June 6, the Eastford Recreation Commission
presented its annual “Experience Eastford” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
at Eastford Elementary School, showcasing what the town has to offer,
and offering all kinds of fun activities for families, including “The
Heart of Eastford 5K” and Kids Fun Run (see separate coverage on pages
20-21), a bounce house, live music, a bake sale, a pie eating contest, a
car show at Bowen’s Garage, a book sale by the Eastford Public Library,
and much more.

A car show at Bowen’s Garage brought out car fans of all ages to see
vehicles on display from the last 100-plus years.
The Babcock Cornet Band played during the first half of Experience
Eastford.
Julia Kneeland, author of the popular “Jig” children’s book series,
hosted a table to display her works.
The Eastford Democrats set up a bake sale, which was enjoyed throughout
the day.

The annual pie-eating contest was enjoyed by more than a dozen hungry
children.
“The B Side” performed covers of hits throughout the years during the
second half of the event.
The Eastford Public Library’s book sale saw a steady line throughout the
day.
