The Pastor's Pen

Timothy Howard Jr.

A lot of people I talk to have faith, or at least a quiet curiosity about it, but they have never quite made it through the door of a church. Life gets busy. It can feel intimidating walking into a place where everyone seems to know each other. There is always a reason to put it off until next week.

If that sounds familiar, I want you to know something. You are exactly who a church like ours is here for.

Summer is actually one of the best times to visit. Things are a little more relaxed, the schedule is flexible, and there is something about the season that naturally turns our minds toward gratitude and reflection. It is a good time to explore what you believe and what kind of community you want around you.

At Eastford Baptist Church, you will find ordinary people who are asking the same big questions you are. Nobody has it all figured out. We just try to work through it together. We go through Scripture verse by verse, letting the text speak for itself. You will not hear personal opinions from the pulpit or a message built around whatever happens to feel relevant that week. We open the Bible, work through it passage by passage, and trust that it has something to say to all of us.

Sunday worship is at 10:30 a.m., and Sunday School is available at 9:15 a.m. Come check us out. We would love to meet you.

We also have something special coming up for families. Vacation Bible School runs Aug. 3-7 from 6 to 8:15 p.m. and is open to all children in Pre-K through 6th grade. It is a fun week for kids and a low-pressure way for parents to get a feel for who we are. Be sure to register your kids today by clicking on the “Events” tab at www.eastfordbaptist.com!
