What's New with BSA Scout Troop 92?

ASHFORD/EASTFORD — The Scout Troop recently did a day hike and climbed Bear Mountain, in Salisbury. Bear Mountain is on the Appalachian Trail and has an elevation of 2,316 feet. Photos will be in the June update.

In May, the Troop plans to hold their annual Mother’s Day Flower Sale. This is a major fundraiser for our Troop. It helps to offset the costs of summer camp and other activities. Please support our local Scout Troop and purchase some lovely spring flowers. The sale will take place at the old post office building across from the town hall in Ashford, and in Eastford Center, on Saturday, May 9.

Troop 92 will replace worn flags at town cemetery grave sites in time for Memorial Day. The Troop hopes to assist with Ashford’s Memorial Day ceremonies. May is a busy month for the Scouts!

Plans for the whitewater rafting trip have been completed. This will take place the end of May and should produce life long memories.

The Troop will assist the New England Garden Club by planting their oak tree right near the General Lyon building in Eastford. This planting commemorates the 250th anniversary of our country. The Ashford Garden Club is planting a tree in Ashford.

Two of our Scouts, Joe and John, had their final Eagle Board of Review. The date for their Eagle Court of Honor has not yet been determined. We are so proud that their efforts have taken them this far!

The Cub Scouts had a great time at the spring Hartford Yard Goats Scout Night in April. Our Scouts' favorite part of the event was the overnight where they pitched their tents and camped in the outfield of Dunkin Park after the game!

In May, the Pack plans to hold a second overnight at J.N. Webster for the annual Barry E. Grant Memorial Fishing Derby. We'll see who has the first catch of the day at the fishing derby!

Cub Scout meetings are held the first Friday of the month at 6 p.m. in Knowlton Hall. New Cubs are always welcome! Scout meetings are the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of the month at 6:30 p.m. New members are welcome.
